Incredibly beautiful story. I love the dream-walking, amazingly clever way to bring them together. I love the concept of the meadow and I think omi_ohmy will just love the autumn-woodsy feel of this story.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I had definitely wanted to make sure, once I got the concept in mind, that the feel of the fic was very much image rich, since a lot of it does take place in a dream world. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. I had a lot of fun writing it.
omi_ohmy: Winter branchesomi_ohmy on December 16th, 2012 04:27 pm (UTC)
Oh my goodness, a fic for me! It's my first ever, so thank you. :)

I really liked the dreamy quality to your writing, and the descriptions of the dream-meadow were beautiful. The idea of lucid-dreaming works well for Harry, post-war, I think. I also loved Draco's house: somehow I could see him living there, comfortable and free to be a Good Man without the trappings of the wizarding world to hold him back. I could see how Harry could begin to fall for him as he got to find out about his life. Harry's own life was so empty too, I could see how he would fall for the idea of love and a relationship as well.

And then poor Draco, being tricked and cursed like that! I found the solution to the curse fascinating: I think there is potential for a kind of darkness and heartbreak there (with all kinds of questions about consent and repercussions), but instead you warmed my heart with Harry and his never-failing hope and capacity for love, and Draco's vulnerability and sense of hope, too.By the end, when Harry finds out that Draco had worked it out, and they both still want each other, gah! so romantic.I was holding my breath for the entirety of that exchange :)

And as for the sex! Your warnings were like a wish list, lol. :D

Thank you again for my lovely fic! ♥

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm sorry if you felt there were consent issues. I hope that by the time you reached the end that you realised there weren't any in reality. If it had ever crossed my mind, I definitey would've taken it out. I know that was a squick of yours. I'm glad overall you enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun writing it. And you're right. I definitely could've gone dark, but you didn't ask for that, and I sort of fail at dark!fic. LOL

After waking from lucid dreaming myself, this fic was totally relatable for me this morning. I loved your description of Harry's meditative place. I found myself cringing as soon as Amorentia was mentioned. Im glad Draco was so understanding, even after being tricked into loving someone else so recently. Well done!
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 15th, 2013 04:21 pm (UTC)
Yeah, the Amortentia was definitely meant to be a soft fix until something permanent could be worked out. But really, Draco saw something real in Harry and that was the whole point. That even though they used the potion, he was in love and it didn't matter in the least. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Really beautiful prose. Everything was so vivid and almost tangible with your descriptions and they way you put together words. Lovely.
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 15th, 2013 04:21 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I really enjoyed writing this. I'm glad there were others who enjoyed reading it. :) Vivid was definitely what i was going for, so I'm glad you felt that. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Lovely take on a fairy tale H/D. Some scorching smex as well.
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 15th, 2013 04:22 pm (UTC)
Funny you should mention fairy tale; that was never the intention, but I can see how it would see so. Thanks for reading, and I'm pleased you enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed this well-written fic. Clever story and very hot sex! I'm happy Draco didn't get upset about the use of the potion on him.
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 15th, 2013 04:23 pm (UTC)
Thank you for reading and commenting. I'm glad you liked it and found the sex hot. :) Of course Draco didn't get upset. He loves Harry and they sort of saved one another in their own way. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Interesting take on the fairy tale. I loved Harry getting to know Draco again through his home, his possessions, and his friends. It substantiated his affection in a way that was always missing in the fairy tale.

I felt so bad for Draco who was deceived so wretchedly. It made me feel bad that the only way to end the curse was with another deception of sorts. I was relieved that he figured it out on his own and it seems his affection was real.

Draco's house and the little village sound so darling.
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 15th, 2013 04:26 pm (UTC)
Definitely never meant for it to be fairy tale-like, but I suppose it's okay that it was. I felt bad for Draco, too, but I knew if if was going to fall in love, he'd have to see something different in Harry, and Harry would have to see different parts of him. It was a cruel deception, but I was always going for a happy ending. :) Thanks for reading and commenting.

This was good and it was also a rather unique way to approach the premise. I loved the dream walking aspect of the fic as it allowed for Draco and Harry to form a connection without the rest of the world intruding. I also loved the fact that it seemed like it was a throughly researched story. And Draco's house; I loved Draco's house and that Harry used it to get to know him better. And the end was just great. Plus it was rather hot. Overall I really enjoyed reading this story.
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 15th, 2013 04:28 pm (UTC)
Hi, thanks for reading and commenting. I'm glad the story felt well-researched and I hope real, for you. I'm glad it was hot and you enjoyed reading.
Mab: Emily in thoughtmab on December 17th, 2012 07:33 pm (UTC)
I love this story! Your descriptions are beautiful and poetic. They bring the scenes to life very much feeling like a dream. I loved the idea of lucid dreaming and the monitoring quills that record Draco's vital signs in St. Mungo's ... inspired.

The sex scenes were hot and brilliant and I'm so glad you addressed Harry's feelings of guilt over having to use amortentia. I'm so glad Draco was able to accept Harry's true feelings and return them.
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 16th, 2013 10:54 pm (UTC)
Thank you for being such a fantastic hand-holder and a whip to get this finished. I needed that. Thank you, thank you, thank. Thank you for reccing it, and for being wonderful in general. :) I'm glad you liked the story, too.

What a lovely story. It did have such a dream-quality about it, very hard to pull off. I could practically see the meadow and the colours all around the way you described them. I loved the idea of them falling in love like this, and I was dreading the moment when they talk about the Amortentia. But you handled it very well. I'm glad they were mature enough to deal with it the way they did.

Wonderful story.

I love the dreaminess of this, even the non-dream aspects had that tinge of otherworldliness that tied the whole thing together. Creative use of the curse (heartbreaking) and the cure (even more so in some ways)

Lovely work!

Oh gosh, I enjoyed this so much!! What an exciting world. How devious that curse was, and Harry's willingness to do what it took to break it was just so him.
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 16th, 2013 11:08 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I thought it was quite the usual Harry thing to do, since he has that saving people thing. Thank you for reading and commenting. :)

This is definitely one of the most romantic, most beautiful fic I've read. The whole dreamy-quality and fairytale-like ending is perfect! Sweet and touching, warm and so bright! I love it!

I loved the idea of lucid-dreaming (Ingenious!) and Draco's dream-walking (So cool!). Plus, the idea of the Sleeping Beauty curse along with Draco's weakening condition as the result of prolonged mind-body separation, mostly the detailed and rational explanation for the whole thing.... THAT. WAS. BRILLIANT! Oooh, and so was the solution to the whole thing! The use of Amortentia as a medical cure?! A truly original and unique idea! I loved it! Mostly, I am in love with the way you wrote Harry and Draco... and the way they gradually fall in love with each other *happy sigh*

Like I've said, one of the most romantic and beautiful fics ever! Awesome! d(^^,)b

Beautiful! The dream walking was a fun and different way of getting them together. I really liked how vulnerable Draco was without being sappy. Great read!

I definitely wanted to avoid sappy, if I could. I wanted it to be realistic. :) Thank you for reading and commenting.

I always love when one of them calls the other an idiot when saying I love you, because the other just does not get it. *grins* Yes, silly quirk, but I do. I was smiling so much then! This is cute, and a lovely love story.

I loved the many layers of care that make up this story. You've crafted a really generous and gentle story out of two people's hurt that uses such richly evocative language that it was easy to get lost in the dream world and start seeing it as the real one. I loved that you then snapped us back into the 'reality' of the story with economical language and appropriately mocking sidekicks, and also that you let the reality of Harry and Draco's past creep into their idyll in the dreamworld; Draco's "Seventy seven" made me laugh!

I especially loved the ending – and the way you subverted the single most annoying hospital trope in fandom. CLEVER! (Obviously I had to read much of that with my eyes hidden behind my hand a la Doctor Who, but even then!) Such a mature, gentle and richly written fic!
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 16th, 2013 10:59 pm (UTC)
Brammers! Thank you for the rec and thank you for taking the time to read and comment. :) Yeah, the seventy seven bit was rather amusing. They weren't exactly on the same page at that point, but they got there in the end. :) I'm glad even though you had to squint through some iof it that you liked it. Thank you for such a wonderful compliment on the way I built the dream world versus reality. :D *hugs*

What lovely imagery and language, and such an interesting way for Harry to cope with his nightmares (and fall in love). I’m glad Harry still felt guilt over the duplicity and ethical issues inherent in saving Draco’s life, even though he was falling in love and getting what he wanted, just not quite. And I’m happy that Draco figured out what Harry had done, wasn’t angry, and was quite in love with Harry himself, all on his own.
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 16th, 2013 11:04 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I was glad everything worked out. At first I wasn't sure if they would manage to do it, but in the end, Draco and Harry both saw what was most important. :) Thank you for reading and commenting.

I love the imagery in this story, the idea of Draco and Harry connecting in the dream wolrd works so well and you capture their developing relationship wonderfully. Your use of Amortentia is cleverly done, I was so happy and relieved that Draco worked it out on his own and we see their love is real.
Lee Marchais: broodingleemarchais on January 16th, 2013 11:02 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I think Harry was pretty happy that the love was real, too. He would've ended up telling Draco if things hadn't worked out. But only once he knew Draco was safe. That would've been a much longer and complicated story, though. Their love was definitely true. I'm glad you liked the imagery. Thanks for reading and commenting. :)
