Author's Notes: Tryslora you mentioned Cerulean Blue in your request and the Marauders. Well it inspired a variety of mentions of blue and a visit with some old friends. I wish you a happy holiday and it was so much fun writing for you! I hope you enjoy the story.

Thank youdysonrules for the beta. I so appreciate your awesomeness. And mods thank you for doing this one more time. It's always been the premier holiday fest and it was such an honour to write for it.

I feel like I won the freakin' lottery. This fic is bloody well BRILLIANT. It will be going on my rec list for Sunday, and it would be whether it was my gift or not. I LOVE IT.

I'm trying so hard not to blurt everything I loved because my comment is here at the top and I don't want to spoil any readers! But I loved all the bits of canon that you pulled full circle, and I adored all those possible points for fork in the road AUs that you slipped in. I loved Hedwig's part in it all. I loved seeing the life that Harry had and how things came together and how time travel worked and how the timelines tried to slip back to what they were.

Gods. I love it so much I'm sort of sitting here in tears and flailing my hands around trying to make sense of my words because OH MY GOD. Seriously. Thank you so so SO much. This is an incredible gift.

If I can manage more coherence later, I might back with another comment. I definitely need to read it again, because there were moments when I said to myself oh wait did that tie back to... and I need to go look more carefully at all the brilliant twists and turns.

Thank you so much Mystery Author. This was a BRILLIANT start to my day.

Haven't started reading properly yet, but already a little weepy at Harry with his family :')

I might have wept a little when writing it. :)

That was AMAZING. I love the timelines, and everything trying to come back together. Lovely lovely lovely.
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:05 am (UTC)
Thank you! I'm so glad the timelines weren't too confusing and, of course, they had to come back together! They were meant to be. :)

I really enjoyed that. I liked all the different possibilities, and Harry's life with his parents, as well as Sirius and Lupin, was absolutely wonderful. It was all very original and well put together, and a great read. The ending was very sweet, and just right. Great stuff! :)
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:06 am (UTC)
Thank you! I had a lot of fun writing that timeline picturing how ideal it could have been for Harry........ until it wasn't ideal. LOL

Oh, I so love stories with alternate timelines and this is simply brilliant.
How a few changes affect everything and how in the end their timeline is the one that really is just right.

Great story!
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:07 am (UTC)
I'm so glad you mentioned and liked that there was only one true timeline where things turn out they were meant to be. Thanks for the wonderful comment!

This was just brilliant! So inspired!

I adored the way the timelines wove together. It was wonderful to get a glimpse of what could have been if things had been different. I adore the coming together at the end. It was hot and so very sweet!

Excellent work!

It was so much fun writing those glimpses of what could have been. So glad you enjoyed the story and thanks for commenting!

That was incredible. I loved so much Harry's life in the other timeline, I almost didn't want it to change, but of course I knew it had to, or it wouldn't be real on this timeline. Which sounds confusing if you haven't read it. ^^

Brilliant story!
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:10 am (UTC)
Ha ha it does sound confusing so I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think we all wonder how it could have been for Harry if only that night hadn't happened. It was fun to write it. Thanks for the lovely comment!

Oh, oh this was so good!!! Thank you so much. I could not have asked for a better ending for 'Harry'. Loved every second and it was even better because I read at work and time is just flying by:) Thank you so much
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:12 am (UTC)
Oh those were the days when I used to be able to read at work......during lunch....looks around. :) So happy that I could make the day go by, that is what a story should do. :)

What an ambitious story you've written! This was so complex, with the happenings in the two timelines. It was an interesting read, and I loved the ending :-)
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:13 am (UTC)
Ah well I can't help but write a happy ending for h/d! Glad you enjoyed both timelines. Thanks for commenting!

Wow! This is brilliant! The idea behind the whole time-travelling slash Tell-Tale Owl is ingenious! I love the way the different timelines wove together to form a happy Drarry ending! Most of all I love that in each universe, Harry and Draco are meant to be together! Yay! Great story! I love it :D
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:15 am (UTC)
Well H/D should have a happy ending.....at least in my personal canon! :) Glad you liked the Owl and the two timelines! Thanks for commenting.

This was brilliantly woven together. I love the alternate universe you've created. Harry's grandmother was such a lively and loving character. Fierce mother lion Lily was so wonderful. All of the alternate reality teens were so sweet, it was really moving and horrific to see it all come crashing down as it did. My heart ached for older lonely Harry, but that he was able to at least see what his life could have been, and the consequences of it, was a lovely way for him to sort of have his cake and eat it too. It's a shame you didn't have someone proofread it and clean up the typos and such, but all in all that didn't detract from what was an amazing story! Thank you!
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:17 am (UTC)
Yep, it needs a little more polishing. Glad it didn't detract too much for you. :) I had so much fun imagining Harry's grandmother and writing for Lily as a mother for teenager Harry. Thanks for commenting!
Pimea Feenix: dark0feenixdark0feenix on December 24th, 2012 03:29 pm (UTC)
This was a lovely story! It was interesting to read about Harry having a happy childhood with his family but then again maybe all the suffering was worth it in the real timeline if it meant Voldemort's true destruction and Harry and Draco ending up together anyway. :)
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:20 am (UTC)
Well as Dumbledore said there were core things and H/D together was one of them. :) Having Harry live to an old age and be happy makes many things worth it. *nods* Thanks for the lovely comment and so happy you liked the story!

This was a really interesting piece! I loved the appearance of the Marauders!

I ♥ the Marauders! So glad you enjoyed reading about them and how things could have been.

Fascinating concept, and very well executed. I liked this story a lot. Harry's alternate childhood with his family was beautifully described, and even though its tragedy was foreshadowed, it was still a painful shock to see it happen. I'm glad Harry had his happy ending with Draco.
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:24 am (UTC)
Harry deserved his Happy ending with Draco! It was core and meant to be. LOL So happy you liked the story and the alternate timeline. Thanks for commenting. :)
subtlefire: Dark Phoenixsubtlefire on January 4th, 2013 12:04 am (UTC)
Nanna Potter sounds awesome. I'm sorry the altered timeline ended...poorly, but also glad that Harry got to have a happy childhood somewhere, and see it for himself. I hope Teddy was able to find some happiness as well. And of course Draco and Harry are meant to be together in all timelines :)

I admit to being confused with the timeline business, but I am also good at hand-waving things I don't understand. *hand waves*
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:26 am (UTC)
You know you mentioned one thing I wish I would have added to the story and that is making things right with Teddy. And, yes, H/D are meant to be together. Hedwig had to make it so. :) Thanks for the commenting!

This was definitely one of my favorites of this years batch of fics. I enjoyed they way you created a world that was perfect for Harry yet flawed. And oh what a flaw it was since not only was Voldemort going to rise to power again but it was likely going to succeed in the new timeline because of the way things were. I thought the whole idea of the Tell-Tale Owl was inspired and original. And the birdcage in the sky was not only beautiful sounding but a brilliant way of viewing the changes the owl had made. Poor Teddy wanting to make things good for Harry and failing but succeeding all at once. And I am oh so glad that Harry and Draco ended up together in the end because they were meant to be together. I kind of wished that Harry had had his grandmother though.
romaine24: girl snow umbrellaromaine24 on January 20th, 2013 05:29 am (UTC)
Aw I wish Harry had his grandmother too. I couldn't make her come back though! :) You made my day with this comment. The ol' saying of be careful of what you wish for seems to ring true for this story. I think having Harry grow up to be an ol' wizard and end up with Draco makes many things in the past worth it. Thank you!

Thank you! So glad you read and enjoyed the story. The premise of what life would have been like for Harry with his parents was so much fun to plot out. :)

Well the ending is the only ending a h/d story should have. LOL One where they're together. :)

I always like stories involving time travel, and this was no exception. It is amazing how you kept the strings tied among all the time lines. Keeping track of them is a lesson in logistics. Going back and forth and following all the characters just adds so much to their experiences, both good and bad. Hedwig is amazing, I was thrilled by this story and really really liked it so much. And it had a happy ending, too. Thanks so much for such a delightful tale.
romaine24: valentine rainromaine24 on February 9th, 2013 04:30 pm (UTC)
Yay I'm so happy to know that you could follow all of the timelines! I can't imagine trying to write something like this if the canon wasn't so rich with details in the "real" timeline. The story did allow me to answer my own canon issue of why Dumbledore didn't use a Time-Turner that Halloween night. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Romaine, that was AMAZING.

The glimpses of what could have been, the bittersweet reality of what was, bubbleberry wine that tasted like MAGIC (haha I wanted some!)....I loved the finer details like Head Auror Harry crying while watching the memories, or him missing getting presents, or feeling bad that Teddy's world ended up falling short of what he'd hoped it would be. It was so very real.

Thank you for that! I haven't liked a story enough to sign into my cobwebbed LJ account since JaD's Bad Faith!

And here I had thought I'd (perhaps obsessively) read all of your works. How come this brilliant, thought-provoking, tear-jerking, beautifully crafted tale isn't listed in your works on your livejournal homepage?

It makes me wonder: are there more Romaine-penned gems out there?

Thanks again :) awesome stuff.

Thank you for reminding me to add this to my Master List! I do need to update it. Also, thank you so much for letting me know you enjoyed the story. It means a lot to know that it still gets read. :) And major hugs for the very kind words.

As to more stories. The only writing I did last year was write a chapter for [Bad username: hd level_two]. Unfortunately, my muse left me a few years ago. :(
