Author's Notes: Thanks and love to my beta readers P, V and F! Thanks also to John le Carré, from whom I borrowed the concepts of the nameless Head Auror and the Lumos squad. enchanted_jae, "Harry and Draco as Aurors working closely together" is one of my favourite fandom clichés. I love reading Auror stories but had never written one before – I hope you'll enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it, or even half. Happy Holidays!

Really enjoyed this fic! Loved Harry and Draco's stint watching out, and I loved the ending as well :) Harry was lovely, revealing little details about himself, like the basilisk and then the Dursleys, and I loved how Draco reacted to these as well. Oh! And, the Hermione and Draco! Lovely! ♥

Thank you! I'm glad you liked the ending - I was a bit doubtful about that myself...
Somehow Hermione and Draco always end up liking each other very much in my stories if there is any interaction between them at all. :)

Wow. First off, I really admire the dreamlike quality of your prose. It was smooth all the way, of course, but some places it almost felt like I would see the scene if I closed my eyes, wrapped in a faint fog, like a memory. The Auror-y parts were very nicely handled, fast-paced and gripping, and detailed without going overboard. The plot was clever and I particularly enoyed how you pulled a one-time canon mention and made it fit so plausibly. The concept of NN was very cool, though I did keep reading it NIN and going wha? for half a second :) I loved the calendula salve and the ensuing neck rub, and really, there were a whole lot of really excellent little moments that made the title really appropriate. I found it so in character for Harry to fall in love with a house and have it speak to him! That was a lovely aside, really. And Veritaserum=love!

I had a great time reading!

Oh, thank you so much! Dreamlike quality - I quite like that. :) I was nervous about the Auror-y parts, so I'm particularly pleased you liked those!
NIN, hee. :)

Wonderful story! The writing was lovely, things evolved slowly, and it was a pleasure to follow Harry and Draco fall for each other. Thank you!

When Harry had defeated Voldemort, he was at a loss what to do with his life. He had done what he was supposed to do, mission accomplished, and had no idea where to go next. He had talked to people, therapists, advisors, and they had all said the same thing – that everything he'd do from then on would seem anticlimactic.
Not exactly, Harry thinks with a smile, running a finger down Draco's arm. But I suppose it depends on your definition of climax.

Great story! I really enjoyed the elements of mystery and suspense, and your Hermione was great. And the ending! ♥

Very clever plot with a great twist, loved Hermione and Narcissa in this a lot. Gorgeous writing, incredibly evocative. I also particularly liked the realisation that Draco wouldn't have known about all of Harry's Hogwarts Era exploits, just as Harry wouldn't have known about all of Draco's experiences during the war. Very suspenseful and thought-provoking!

Thank you so much, I'm so glad you liked it! I'm particularly pleased you liked Narcissa, and the discoveries Harry and Draco are making about each other's history. *dances*

That was incredibly lovely. I haven't read H/D in a long time, but when this popped up on my flist, I randomly decided to give it a go. That was clearly the right decision; this fic reminded me of why I liked H/D as much as I did. Beautiful story.

Oh, thank you so much for your lovely comment! I'm glad I could remind you of why you liked H/D. :)

This is a beautifully written piece. You have an undeniable and very real talent for writing. The prose was absolutely stunning in some places, but never more than at the end. It was an incredibly quick read, and your side-characters were believable and real despite their short "screen time". This is definitely a piece to be proud of. Thank you so much for sharing this.

this was so fantastic, i loved it! auror!fic is pure love and this was an AWESOME example of it! you made the mystery subplots riveting and exciting while still keeping the characterization and the budding relationship as the focal point, and everything was perfectly paced. i loved the details - NN, auror!hermione, the buddy program (the whole bit about harry worrying ron would be jealous was so great!), NN's cat, the cottage. i really loved the development of the relationship and the building ST. and even though it's a common trope now, i felt it shoot up my spine when draco called harry by his first name. :D wonderfully executed, fabulous fic!

Thank you so much! It was my first time writing Auror fic and I was really nervous about it, so I'm particularly pleased that you liked the mystery subplots!

Lovely. So lovely!

Thank you for building their relationship slowly. For making it something they worked at and not something that sprung up in a moment. <3 *luffs* I loved the part where Harry was massaging the salve into his shoulder and Draco holding himself back... And having Narcissa welcome Harry was nice too.

*much love*
Penguin: HD_duel_yellowpenguin474 on March 10th, 2010 10:18 pm (UTC)
Aww, thank you! I don't think I can write fic where the relationship doesn't build slowly; it just doesn't work for me.
I find Narcissa a very interesting character, I'd have loved to have more of her in the story but it was already getting too long...

I love auror!fics, but there's so many out there that's it's becoming predictable, but yours was so lovely, and so interesting!

I loved every bit of it, but in particular, Kreacher's reaction to seeing Draco was endearing, and Draco giving Harry a neck rub is awesome. Great job!
