Wow, what a plot and what a twist! And I don't think I'll ever look at chocolate sauce the same way again... Mmmmm.

Bwah ha ha! Well, the tastes of chocolate sauce and human skin don't meld together very well, ime, so they were fighting a losing battle from the beginning. XXX

Ah.... *sighs* I have terribly mixed feelings about this. Whilst I enjoyed the plot very much, I didn't very much care for the characters (Draco, Teddy, Ron, and Hermione exempted). At all. The whole issue between Harry, Ginny, and Neville was, well, more than just a little off-putting. I hate, hate, hate pushover!Harry. There should have definitely been more emotion between these three characters. I don't think it's possible for a human being to be so "good" (not the right word, but I can't seem to think of it at the moment). Well, unless they're mentally ill or something. There should have definitely been more anger on Harry's part. And Neville! God! How could Harry have NOT been angry at him? Bloody impossible. The ending, especially, killed me. Harry was to passive, and I felt it did nothing to make him appeal to me as a more interesting character. It just didn't work. I love Drama, but am so picky with it. It's easy to over-dramatize conflict, and while that is annoying, under-dramatizing it is just as unattractive.

So yeah, my feelings for this lean towards 'dislike', but it really has nothing to do with how nicely it was written or the flow of it (which was rather nice).

Sorry, m'dear.

Still, thanks for this. It made for an interesting read. Aggravating. But very interesting. I really liked Harry and Draco's relationship.

I really appreciate your honestly.

Here's my take:

After what had just happened with Draco, being angry with Neville or Ginny would have felt hypocritical for Harry. Plus, Ginny had just handed him the out he desperately wanted, but hadn't yet been able to admit to himself that he wanted. He wasn't being 'nice', he was grabbing on to chance not to have to be the bad guy and run out on his commitments. He didn't want to be with Ginny any more, so in a backhanded kind of way, Neville had done him a huge favour. The only reason for him to flip out in anger would have been a very misguided and counter-productive feeling of possessiveness towards Ginny.

And his anger did surface eventually. I just took a while and specific circumstances for him to allow himself to feel it.

I really liked this.. It was incredibly well written and it made sense to me in a lot of ways. I usually am not a fan of cheating Harry or Ginny, but like I said.. It made sense and I was able to grab onto it and keep going and think, "Oh, of course this is how that would go."

The plot was fantastic and I really loved Dennis. Me, Dennis, a vial of polyjuice and about 45 minutes, please? Sasha can join in, as well, if he wishes. I'm not picky. =)

I liked Harry being annoyed with Dennis and Draco's pub and the fact that you addressed Marietta Edgecomb, because as much as I like Hermione, I have always hated that no one called her out for that, and that she's completely unrepentant and basically ruined this girl's life over being a tattletale and no one seems to remember that it even mattered.

Also a big fan of the slow but quick and not-so-easy way Harry and Draco fell for one another. And that not everything ended up perfect. Because not everything does.

Great job with this! It was really amazing.

Thank you so much! Hee, I'm so glad you liked Dennis. I had a lot of fun writing him. :D And 'slow but quick and not-so-eay' is how I pretty much always envision H/D going. ♥

Whatever, THIS FIC WAS AWESOME. I loved it. I lol'ed a bunch, loved harry and ginny's hilarious attempts to keep the sex life going, loved dennis, loved the scorching h/d chemistry and the even hotter sex, loved the flirting and touching and desire between them and the fabulously heady way they recaptured their old obsession. The writing was tight and the pacing was great, and everyone felt extremely believable. I didn't think I'd like Draco morphing into Darren Shan either but you made me love it. And the sex was great.

Oh, my, I enjoyed this immensely. You have a wonderful, playful way with language that had me smiling immediately and kept me doing so, even through the more serious moments. Dennis was hilarious. I think I have a crush on him now :)

This may seem like an odd line to pick out, but this is a perfect example of why I liked this story so much:

Harry found the idea of Malfoy being gay mysteriously agitating. *g*

Thank you so much, lovely! 'You have a wonderful, playful way with language' I love that you think so. I did have a lot of fun with the language when writing this fic. And I'm glad you liked Dennis. I actually just kind of extrapolated on how he was written in canon.

This is so beautiful! I love how you highlighted the different types of "freaks" and that it was never centered on Harry, Draco, or the theatre group as being more or less than each other, and especially more or less than the "blands". They were just different. Beautiful meaning, and delicious sex. I've been having trouble envisioning Draco for some reason lately (is that just me that gets like that?) and this story just made it really easy to see him, if that makes any sense. I think it was the little things, such as right before Draco ties Harry up and he's just leaning over him- that stood out so strongly in my mind, I swear I could feel his arms shaking, too.

I've never given Dennis a backwards glance, so thankyouthankyou for taking a minor character and using him in a role that many other's have been used over and over again :D The theatre setup, the colours, the show, and dry humour and personalities of EVERYONE involved are just so.. FRESH. This has been a wonderful and original read! Thank you so much for going out on a limb with a lot of the plot <3 Gorgeous!

Oh, thank you. "I love how you highlighted the different types of "freaks" and that it was never centered on Harry, Draco, or the theatre group as being more or less than each other, and especially more or less than the "blands"." -- This makes me incredibly happy, because it's exactly what I was trying to do. Thank you for picking up on it.

I am so enthralled and in love with this story!! Thank you for everything! There’s so many things I’d like to touch upon. Where to start?

Well, it opens with humor, so I'll begin by saying the humor in this was BRILLIANT. Seriously funny stuff, here - I was laughing straight through most of it! And before I get to Harry and Draco, I have to talk about my other two favorite characters in this story:

Dennis. Dennis was genius. I LOVE the Creeveys (poor, darling Colin), and you've written Dennis the best I've ever read. I can't count how many times I laughed. I'm still laughing, right now as I type this! The dialogue and gestures you gave him, such as pecking Harry on the cheek, were hilarious whilst not at all over the top where it would become not enjoyable. Draco flirting back with Dennis, though, just about takes the cake! ♥ And I was thoroughly entertained by how you incorporated him into the main mystery plot and put wings on him. Also, the way he rescued Harry, soaring down like that - major laughter!! :D

Sasha was fabulous. Tentacles!!! I just so happen to adore the name Sasha, too. The little touches like the saltwater smell and his little pouf furniture Harry and Draco had to sit uncomfortably on made it even more immersing. The fact that Dennis was attracted to him and Harry thought he was completely mental was delightful! Oooh, I'd love to read their sex scenes! When Sasha came wriggling up to Dennis at the end, it was so endearing. I loved the pair.

I think you took two risks with the plot: the sort of graphic scenes between Harry and Ginny and infidelity, and I am thrilled you did. Harry and Ginny’s relationship was very realistic and evoked much sympathy. Usually I don’t care for a Harry who’s not very good in bed, I like him to be at least confident if not perfect, but your Harry was so endearing and sweet, and then … well … he’s very sexy later, with Draco. And again, with your great humor, both the chocolate sauce and the foray into BDSM had me giggling and highly amused!

Which reminds me, Ron and Hermione with their spicy love life - oh my God, simply loved that as well!!

Also, there's something magical about that sentence, the one just after Ginny leaves to go to Neville. As soon as I read the word snow, I threw my arms up and felt a tiny chill as I let out a cheer!

The overall plot worked so well. It was mysterious and a bit eerie which makes a wonderful setting and theme and really brought the whole thing together. And … I didn’t like her and was suspicious from the first introduction! HAH! I’m so glad she was the culprit!

The relationship between Harry and Draco was electric and sparking from the first moment Harry entered his tent (and their stand-off glare was another point of laughter) to the positively searing ending kiss out in the rain and lightening (you absolutely nailed my thing for storms, which you probably didn't even know I had).

I always enjoy when Harry and Draco rough each other up, and this was no less spectacular. Each punch thrown, each tense word was magnificent, with all the charged, bubbling feeling and harsh action. The pacing gave it perfect, springy tension, just what I love, throughout the entire story, from beginning to end. And I have to mention, the additional cosmetic magic to soften Draco's nose, and Harry, of course, refusing to pay the bill - how brilliant was that??

Christmas couldn’t have been any lovelier. Draco in his fantastically decorated caravan, drinking, listening to Celestina Warbeck on the wireless and all around miserable? Just what I, I suppose rather morbidly (really, I’m always happy around the holidays), like! And Harry, emotional from having been sent a scrumptious Weasley dinner through the floo, deciding to go to the pub Draco frequented (wanting to see him, of course! ;) ), receiving desperately unwanted attention and then screwing it all and going to Draco directly. Once together, though, their night was made special ...

I really loved this. Your OC's were fantastic, as was Dennis Creevey. Harry and Ginny had my heart break a little.

The ending made me want to punch Harry, too. So stubborn that he didn't even realise he was hurting all of them. And the way I see it, he didn't really make the decision FOR DRACO, but because Neville was clever enough to see what's right. I was a little disappointed, but on the other hand, Harry had gone through a lot of bull.... during the last few days.

I loved the circus and all the employees. Imo, you could have mentioned a little more ot Harry's and Dennis' inverstigation. It looks as if they only inverstigate when an attack has just happened.

On the whole, it was one of the stories I liked best so far, especially your Draco, who's so IC, strong and vulnerable, and the noxe-fixing bill was just great, as was the Incarcerous. :-)

Thanks for writing this!

E McGeemelusinahp on January 18th, 2010 10:42 am (UTC)
Thank you so much! I love that you were able to feel for Harry and Ginny and their doomed relationship. I felt for them too as I wrote.

Poor Harry. I think he sometimes gets blinded by his need to do what he thinks is right. While it would have been romantic in a way for him to just choose Draco while ignoring his impending fatherhood, I just couldn't see him doing that and staying in character. If it helps, I do believe he would have come to the right conclusion on his own given time. Neville just pushed him into the right train of thought a bit earlier.

Heh. Yes, I agree with you about the investigation. If I'd had more time, I would have tried to figure out ways of integrating more interviews etc into the storyline.

I'm thrilled you liked Draco and found him IC. ♥ Thank you so much.

I adore, adore, adore this fic!!!!

It's wonderfully original! I loved Dennis. His characterisation will stay in my mind for a very, very long time. OMG! Tentacle!Sex!!! Marry me? pls?

And Harry is fabulous. The way you showed the het sex... God, that was well done. Not 'het sex is Evol! Harry is Gay!' but that it just didn't work with them. And they tried and Ginny was trying and so was Harry and yeah... not meant to be! and that's ok. That happens in RL, too.

So Harry's 'numbness' at finding out Ginny cheated on him is so very understandable. They are BOTH frustrated and confused and wanting it to be better, but Harry fell into bed with Draco, so it's very real that he could understand that Ginny fell into bed with Neville - though yeah - it would take sometime to process all those thoughts.

I LOVE how Ron defended Harry to his sister and how HArry was all uncomfortable with that because he is totally not blameless. Their marriage wasn't working and no one should take the full blame. And then OMG!!! the twist of the pregnancy! That was just a punch in the gut and YES!!! Harry was so very IC to react the way he did. He did the "right thing" in his own mind and it was heartbreaking for everyone. I'm just so thrilled he listened to reason in the end. YAY! fabulous, original twist. *squishes it*

Oh, then there's the sex. suspensionroughbjfuckinghisthroatbondage *flails* OH! and Harry coming too early and leaving Draco to fend for himself!! *flails*

er. I'm going to stop there. :P

Oh! and the circus folk!! Lavender!! who I totally thought was going to be the culprit!! OMG1 she was fab. and Merrietta (sp?) fjjfldsjl!!! BRILLIANT. ok, i'm really stopping now. :D

Lovely. This was nice mix of humor, hot sex and plot. I liked Harry and Draco's relationship, Harry punching Draco after their first sex scene and Draco giving him the St Mungo's bill. That is something I can see happening.

Dennis was wonderful with all his enthusiasm, Sasha romance and his You don't have to mention your wife every time my sexuality comes up, Harry. Other supporting characters were great, too. I loved Lanvender's future reading scene. And that scene where they were thinking about checking all wands for Incarcerous was priceless. Well done.
