Happy H/D Holidays, [name redacted]!
Author: snegurochka_lee
Recipient: [name redacted]
Title: Humbug (A Christmas Tale)
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco. (With implied Draco/other men; implied past Harry/Cho; and brief, future, imagined but not-real Harry/Charlie.)

Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: All Harry Potter characters herein are the property of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury/Scholastic. No copyright infringement is intended.
Warning(s): EWE. Discussion of the terminal illness of a child (a la Tiny Tim), but if you know Dickens, you know it will be all right.
Epilogue compliant? Not for Harry or Draco, so no kids for them, but there is implied Ron/Hermione.
Word Count: ~30,000
Author's Notes: With the greatest of apologies to Charles Dickens. The idea to write an adaptation of A Christmas Carol as H/D landed in my brain and would not be moved. Many thanks to my beta M. for not discouraging me, but also, oh God, why didn't she discourage me?! Huge thanks also to H. and L. for more beta help once the deed was done. [name redacted], you are a lovely person who did not in any way ask for this particular craziness, but you did have many marvellous things in your sign-up that I tried to incorporate here. Happy Holidays!

GOOD LORD, where are my comment replies?? :( SO SORRY! But eeee, thank you for this! Was your guess right? I thought I was well hidden! But then some folks told me otherwise as they laughed and laughed. :( Ah well. :D

(But I feel badly for him, being stuck with all those chains! Surely he lost a few after helping Draco? *hopeful*)

Agh. I'm still torn about that one. In all earlier drafts, this had a very different ending, wherein in the last scene, Snape and Andromeda are having a drink together and quietly congratulating themselves on a job well done. :) I liked that closure for Snape, but all four of my trustworthy betas said it read as far too manipulative, to have Snape steering the whole thing like that all along. :( With more time, I think there would have been a way for me to make it less manipulative but still give Snape a happier ending, but alas, all I had time for was to cut it out completely and end at the Weasleys'.

But yes, in my head, Snape is perfectly fine, and much of that scene with him and Draco was a performance meant to light a fire under Draco's ass. :D

Yep, my guess was right. I can't remember now what gave it away, but I was pretty sure early on. :-)

I'm glad Snape is perfectly fine!
