I quite liked this. The idea of them learning to fly, in that manner, together was great!

Thank you :)

Clever plot! And clever Narcissa, lol.
Poor Draco. I felt for him when Harry succeeded first, but when he got it, too, it was lovely.
Sweet story!

Thanks, Alisanne. I'm a sucker for Narcissa.

Great idea, I loved it. Draco's anger when Harry's able to fly is childish but I can understand him. And the island seems very interesting.

Yaaay! I've been waiting for ages for my gift to post and now it finally has and I really loved it, so thank you very much!

I really enjoyed the idea of them learning to fly, first in competition with one another and then together. I liked the idea that they made one another be better. I liked the balance through the story, where Draco's success, studying on the island, and relative sense of self-knowledge (not wanting to marry Astoria), is balanced by Harry's natural drive and focus and Harry's almost effortless success is balanced by the struggle he has in the aurors and with his general sense of redundancy. You really captured what they have to offer one another.

I loved the location of the lake house. It really conjured up some gorgeous imagery: the dark green, verdant, chill dampness of a lake in the off season and the idea of their pale bodies flashing through the air to splash in the water. Also rolling on the mud together. All very delicious!

I also loved Narcissa, seeing everything so clearly right from the start, and engineering her son's happiness ♥ Also, finally, there is a special warm place in my heart for ridiculously stubborn Draco, repeatedly breaking his bones, jumping off the roof, because in many ways he is as bone-headed and hot-headed as Harry ♥ ♥ ♥

Dear Dear Rai,

I truly hoped that you'd enjoy this. I would say that I wrote this for you specifically more than I have any other gift fest or prompt fest. I really wanted to. I usually look at the prompts, likes, and squicks to guide me, but end up writing 'my fic'. This was tailored much more for you and I found myself quite nervous about it. It's a subtle little fic, and not for everyone, but I thought that it fit in with your ideas about Draco and his parents. You've created such incredible imagery over the years that definitely influenced this piece.

To be sneaky I even used Brit spellings and Brit word usage (had to find and replace elevator to lift in the opening-lol), although you probably saw mistakes and knew it was an American trying to get by. I usually adopt the JKR American version of the HP novels for words and spellings ;) I missed my z's, but for you... I was willing to sacrifice them. I hope you're pleasantly surprised.

♥ ♥ ♥ Rickey

I loved this relationship between them. Really great concept of flying. Great characterisations and a good way for them to trust each other. Nice work!

Thanks, I had fun exploring the flying aspect, and well, yeah, it makes a nice metaphor.

That was amazing. I'm glad Harry has this now. He seems so dejected, with Ron and Hermione with their own lives, his Auror career not going as well as he wanted, but now... God, now I can be truly happy for him. :D I'm so glad Draco finally saw he could count on Harry rather than compete with him all the time. I loved it. :))

Aw, I love the Harry and Draco with more in common than they want to acknowledge thing, and this does it very well. Bravo to them both!

beautiful :) i loved the vivid descriptions of the flying, and the tension was great. I'd have loved to read more of this, in case there is any possibility of a sequel. The characterizations and backstory had a lot of potential for moooore... ;). Great writing!

Thanks you so much. Never say never, but I don't have sequel ideas at the moment.

What a lovely concept. I love the magical theory behind flight and the fact that they used Snape's notes. I also liked how believable they were as older versions of their canon selves. Really lovely.
rickey_a: accio fandomrickey_a on January 18th, 2013 07:22 pm (UTC)
Thanks, Mel, I'm still giggling at my stealthiness. I love to explore the magic, so it's fun when I glom onto something that I'm not sure has been done yet (or at least widespread).
